Director in residence program

In addition to training services and resources, Chasing Summer has a Director in Residence program that will bring an experienced, Director-level staff member to your program for 3 or more days to help with on the ground training and inclusion of participants with autism into your program.  Because every program is different and the needs are various, this program will be customized to your specific needs, staffing, facility, and experience.  The areas of support include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing one-on-one campers
  • Ongoing feedback and support to group counselors
  • Managing meltdown and other extreme behavior, with the intention to teach others through shadowing and debrief
  • Creating individual systems for campers
  • Creating visual instructions and systems
  • Helping staff to determine inappropriate versus different behavior, mannerisms, habits, etc.
  • Facilitating parent communication
  • Role modeling best practices: using schedules, clear and concise language, offering choices, supporting transitions, etc.
